Size and morphometric measurements
_Size
Performed by computing the maximum inscribed disc within a particle. The algorithm developed is exclusive to OCCHIO. It is extremely robust, allowing ALPAGA 500 NANO to compute real size distribution curves with an unrivalled accuracy.
_Elongation
Thanks to its robustness,the elongation measurement obtained from ALPAGA 500 NANO,is computed from one minus the ratio between inertial ellipse axes.
_Roundness
It is based on a very accurate measurement of local curvature and takes into account the fact that blunt asperities are more significant than very acute ones. The roundness index is the expression of maturity in an abrasion process.
_Roughness
Defined like the ratio between the blunted surface by the entire surface of the grain, this parameters measure acute asperities for each particle.
_Convexity
It is based on the convex shape made by a virtual rubber band fitted on each particle. It is defined like one minus the ratio between convex area and real area of the grain.

Without any sample damage, this Vacuum Disperser Device (VDD) will gently deposit millions of individual grains of powder on a lide glass within a few seconds. The device is rapid and easily cleaned. Sample supports and rings are cleaned in a class 100 whit room, guaranteeing the eliminating of contamination or measurement artefacts.
